Another school project for Wokingham Borough Council

We are pleased to announce that we are now on site at Loddon Primary School, Earley, to commence the ‘One Form Entry Expansion Project’.

This phased project includes building a new contemporary school hall, converting the old school hall into new classrooms, and installing a new MUGA pitch.

Loddon Primary is a lovely school with a warm welcoming environment and dedicated enthusiastic staff and pupils who deserve more up to date and improved facilities.

It will be a pleasure to work with the school, Wokingham Borough Council and Frankhams, providing them with the new facilities that reflects this. We hope the new building and associated works will inspire and enhance their education experience.

Hampshire’s Building Fabric Minor Works Framework Lot 3

We are delighted to announce that we have been successful in securing a place on Hampshire’s Building Fabric Minor Works Framework – Lot 3.

Hampshire County Council is recognised as one of the highest performing Councils in the country providing services to over 1.3 million people. The framework falls under Hampshire County Council’s 2013-2017 “Shaping Hampshire” strategic plan. This focuses on enhancing services and facilities plus promoting economic prosperity to all communities.

Lot 3 comprises re-cladding works of all buildings including SCOLA, with projects valued from £1-2 million. We expect the first lot of ‘mini-competition’ tenders due out later this year, following the framework launch in August.

Practical Completion and handover at Guildford Corporation Club

Site Manager Allen Brown and his team were thrilled when the project at the Guildford Corporation Club was awarded practical completion last week. It was also great to see tenants moving in to the site that is located adjacent to the Slyfield Estate in Guildford. Awarded Code for Sustainable Homes 4, these 12 new build semi-detached homes provide much needed social housing for the area. The brick and block units also comprised solar panels and the site was also adjacent to an established residential estate. We are particularly proud of the team in building excellent relationships with the surrounding community and especially of Allen who received an NHBC award for going above and beyond the call of duty.

NHS project at the University of Reading

We are pleased to announce we recently have been awarded our first NHS scheme. Commencing shortly, the Internal Remodelling project at the Science and Technology Centre (STC) at the University of Reading is for Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Located at the Whiteknights campus, the project comprises a mixture of refurbishment, decoration, stripping out and the refitting of the original space.

Vale of White Horse Sports Centre

Following on from our last post for the Vale of White Horse Leisure Centre we have completed the refurbishment works to both the swimming pools, which included reconfiguring the wet side showers and wet side disabled changing rooms all these opened on time for the centre users.

We have also completed the refurbishment of the internal gym changing rooms and handed this back over to the Gym operator GLL. Progress on the Gym extension is progressing well with the structural glass currently being installed. All the internal fit out works have commenced as well and we are currently progressing well and are on programme to complete as planned

Francis Construction have secured another scheme under the current framework. This scheme is part of the Universities overall development plan of the existing Engineering Block

The scheme consists of relocating a brickwork store to allow for the new construction of a HV & LV sub-station. As part of the scheme we must relocate some existing services which consist of diverting the existing storm water and foul drainage. We also must divert part of the district heating system all of which is currently live and as such this brings its own challenges. the works are planned to be completed early in the new year.
